I have never paid a cent in taxes on winnings. Won everything from $50 scratch tickets to a $8900 slot jackpot at Casino Niagara and CRA has never bothered me. The law is crystal clear – recreational gambling winnings are tax exempt period. People get all paranoid for nothing. I’ve seen forum posts where guys are worried about reporting a $500 win smh. As long as you’re not some poker pro making 6 figures annually you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Put that money in your pocket and enjoy it – thats what its for!!
