The first time I ever played a live game, I didn’t know how to play poker easy guide-style, so I just bet big every time I had a decent hand. I got pocket queens and went all-in before the flop. Bad idea. The flop comes down, and of course, someone has pocket aces. They took me out, and I was sitting there wondering how it all went so wrong. That was the day I learned that just because you have a good hand pre-flop doesn’t mean you should throw everything into the pot.
